Friday Night Meet Expo Rumble

It’s only two and half months away to the May 2012 London MCM Expo.  I’m now looking at organising the Friday Night Meet a little better, the important thing is that people turn up.  It’s a meet for gaming, going for food, and generally meeting up with friends and hopefully making new ones.  It’s going to be more fun than ever.

There will be a lot of Team Times members there, and hopefully anyone else who wants to turn up.  Everyone’s welcome as long as you’re friendly and a lot of fun.

Magic The Gathering Expo Rumble
One of the little main events I’m setting up for Magic The Gathering players will be the Expo Rumble.  If anyone’s seen the WWE Royal Rumble, or even watched Cuntdown, you’ll know where I’m going with this.  All entrants throw their name into a hat, and then the first two are drawn.  The winner stays on until there are no names left in the bag.  The people up first will have to have some good decks to get through the whole Rumble.  When placing your name on the paper, you also have to put your 60 card deck colour down as well, you cannot decide as the game goes on.  That makes it more challenging.  I can’t wait for this.

Other stuff at the meet will be Nintendo DS and 3DS gaming, other card games such as Yu Gi Oh, and I’ll also be looking out for people with 3DS’s to get those important StreetPass hits.  The Friday Night Meet is going to be awesome.  Oh, and I’m also planning a raffle too, so if anyone has any stuff they don’t want and can’t sell, this is ideal.

Make sure you’re going to be at the London MCM Expo this May.  I want to meet you.  There will be more updates running up to the Expo about the meet, so watch this space.

The Chase Audition Day

I can reveal in this blog, that on the 29th of February, I had an audition to appear on The Chase.  I cannot reveal how the audition process works as it’d ruin it for any future possble contestant, and it would be wrong to do so for all who organise the show.  All I will say is, I had a good time, there were some really nice people there, and I failed to be shortlisted.  But it was a great experience.

My day leading up to the Audition was a strange one at times, fun in others…

I decided as my audition was at 2.45pm in Sheffield, I’d make a day of it and go to Meadowhall.  I went to the train station to catch the 8.15am train so I could have a wander to Toys R Us… never happened!  I got to the station and realised I’d forgotten my wallet.  That was a definite sign of the day and how things would eventally work out.  I went home, and later caught the 9.15am train, so didn’t bother with having a walk to Toys Rnt Us.

I had a good walk around Meadowhall.  Went to both GAME shops, Game Station, and nipped into Waterstones where nothing stood out to buy.  The only time at Meadowhall I nearly bought something was in HMV.  I saw Twin Peaks for £20, but decided I’ll get it another time.  The only thing I did buy at Meadowhall was a McDonalds, and I have to say it was one of the best McChicken Sandwich meals I’ve ever had.  My compliments to the fast food chef on that one.

I headed into Sheffield, visited the game shops again.  I did buy something this time.  I found a game in HMV I’ve never seen before, and with it being a day for a quiz audition, it was an ideal choice.  Nat Geo Quiz! Wild Life on the Xbox 360.  I know it’s just trivia but I hope it’s a decent game to play.  I also got a couple of Magic The Gathering: Dark Ascension boosters, which contained nothing that great, and over at the Sheffield Space Centre, I picked up Gantz volume 21 and the second volume of Magic The Gathering comic.

An interesting point was while sitting in the Peace Gardens for about 20 minutes, I had a lot of time left before I had to get to my audition.  Two girls were there with a camera, dancing to Japanese tunes.  They were very good, and instantly I thought of the MK Dance Group.  I had a quick chat with them and gave them my card, so hopefully they’ll get in touch.  I know MK Dance UK are looking for new dancers, and these two girls were very fluid and knew what they were doing.

I got to my audition an hour early, but had a good chat or three with other hopefuls.  That made it a more pleasant experience.  After we were told if we were shortlisted or not, we all went our seperate ways.  I don’t think I’ll be auditioning again unless I’m offered anything, but do have a plan later in the year for a different show, you’ll know more on that soon.

Good thing about the day, I got some new StreetPass Mii’s, one from Japan too.  I took Caroline’s 3DS with me so she got them as well, and we got a few new puzzles to fill.

It wasn’t a bad day.  I wish I’d have been shortlisted for The Chase, but nevermind, it was a lot of fun.

Dereck Chisora wants to be Richard Branson

Last night, Dereck Chisora started some crap with master boxer, David Haye.  He’s just a tad jealous that David Haye is a world class boxer, also models, and the important thing Dereck Chisora really needs.. a personality.

I think Dereck has bit of a thing for Richard Branson too, in this here photo, he’s wearing the classic Branson facial hair that Usain Bolt has been seen wearing in the Virgin adverts.  Sorry Dereck, that contract won’t ever be going to you.  Hopefully David Haye will get one though, that’d be cool.

To the serious bit though for my first Angry blog.  Dereck Chisora disgraced the boxing world again.  He can’t help himself.  He spits water in people’s faces, he slaps people to try and get a reaction, and now he thinks he’s hard going for a punch up for no real reason other than to be a dick.  Why can’t boxers like this save the violence for the ring?  Mohammad Ali did everything on the mic, he wasn’t the best boxer in the ring, but he owned everyone using a microphone.  Can’t Dereck Chisora at least grow some balls and try and own his opponent with the same device?  Nope, and here’s why.. he’s an arse!  He should be banned from boxing because anyone who hasn’t got the guts to talk the talk and just wants to hit someone, they haven’t got any sportsmanship in them and shouldn’t be aloud to be in any sporting profession.  Mind you, if he wasn’t a boxer, he’d likely be in jail costing tax payers money.  At least as he is a boxer, he can take cash from the suckers buying the tickets.

What’s going to happen next?  Hopefully a match between Dereck Chisora and David Haye.  That’ll be a riot, but at least it’ll be where it belong.. in the ring.  Perhaps the critics will be shouting ‘ban boxing’ again.  My view on those sorts of critics, you ban a sport like boxing and the crime rate will rise, so don’t talk crap.  If these people want to hit each other, what’s the problem with that?  They both choose to do it, so who cares.  But what Dereck Chisora did wrong, he took it away from the sport in the ring where it belongs, he disgraced the sport by acting like a nut case, and he should be taken out of the sport for the fact he’s a bad role model!  End of.

Birthday Treats

My Birthday was the other day.  I turned the ripe old age of 35, and you know what, I don’t feel any older, I still feel like I was 25… ok, no, more like 30… sod it, let’s say 27.  Yeah, that’ll do.

The day was actually quite crap.  It started off alright into the early hours.  I got some presents which were nice, and I stayed up quite a while.  Then I got up to my Grandma moaning at me for about 3 hours, just because of something as silly as buggering up a tin of ham of all things.  Then I went to work which nobody wants to do on their Birthday.

I got some goood stuff though.  My aunts gave me £20.  My mum got me a few DVDs which I’ve been wanting for a while, and my Grandma got me Merlin series 4.  My Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson DVD collection is building up now at least.

Next year, I’m hoping my birthday will be the same day as Midlands MCM Expo.  That would be quite epic and I’m sure I’d defo go as I’m booking my 36th off.  I can’t be arsed to work a Saturday night next year on my Birthday, no bloody way!  So come on MCM, do me a favour.  ;)

Usain Bolt Vs Tonyo

On Valentine’s Day, Caroline and myself went to Meadowhall in Sheffield to catch a movie and have some grub.  I didn’t know I’d come across a cardboard cut out of legendary fast bloke, Usain Bolt.  He thinks he’s Richard Branson you know.  I love those Virgin adverts, Branson and Bolt teaming up, that’s proper gold.  I think they could do a lot more with those adverts.

We had a nice Valentine’s Day.  We saw Journey 2 starring Dwayne Johnson and Michael Caine.  Not a bad film but could have been a lot better, if it wasn’t for The Rock, it’d completely failed.  After that, we had food and then went shopping.  I finally got Yoostar for my Xbox 360, we got some Dark Ascension Magic The Gathering boosters, and a few other things we needed.. like me buying some jeans.

If everyone had a nice day on the 14th of February, then that’s good.  I hope all you gents did as I did if you have a lady in your life and get a card and some flowers.  Caroline has a new necklace too, nothing too expensive but she seen it and liked it, so I got her it.  A brilliant Valentine’s Day here.

If you’re single and have an interest in someone, make sure you ask them out, you have nothing to lose.  Crap advice, but seriously, every day you stay in wonder, is one day less you might be spending with them.  Scary as it may seem, you’ll never know until you ask them.

Team Times Sheffield Edition Video Blog

I’ve put a video blog on my channel, not the Team Times channel because I was about an hour into uploading when I realised I’d put it on the wrong channel.  Anyways, me, Caroline, Jodie, Sam and Paul, had a little meet to film some of my new games and movie videos.  This video blog was an extra and we give EVERYONE in Team Times a hello.  Also a little message for Chris Rowcroft.
If anyone’s watching this video and doesn’t know about Team Times yet, you can read our blogs as we’re a 28 member group, at www.TonyoTimes.com or check out and subscribe to our channel.. www.youtube.com/TeamTimes

February Sucks So Far

Rant time, because this month has been shit…

I’ve been off work the last couple of nights because of a bad cold, had a migraine, hallucinating all kinds of strange things so I didn’t even know if I was awake or not, and I wake up this Saturday morning to find I have pains in my lung.  Great start to the month, down on money and when I go back to work, I’ll be looked at as if I wasn’t ill at all.  I hate that, it makes me wish I’d never bothered going back at all.  You see, with big corporations, they don’t think the actual workers should have time off and only they get ill, but they have offices so they can get their cash and sit about in a warm room with a Lemsip.  Not so easy for the ones that do the hands on job, full time.  Plus, I’m British, always something to be looked down on for in my own bloody country!

There’s a lot more too that’s happened this month already.  I finished series 2 of Merlin that I got for Christmas, opened up series 3 to find two of the same disc in there, and I can’t send it back because the 30 day thing ran out.

The new thing that just happened when I got up this morning, I got blamed for fusing the kettle and oven.  The kettle was leaking and put it on a tray… so what happens, my family use it and it does damage, and it’s my fault.  They knew what it was there for, the kettle was faulty and they knew this, and suddenly because things go wrong, it’s my fault.  This is on top of my mum letting wild kittens run loose in the house as well, making a noise and keeping Caroline awake last night when she has to be at work first thing.. and it wasn’t the kittens making a noise, it was my family talking to them as if they were babies understanding every work they say.

I’m pissed off, ill, and fed up with my family who are nuts!  Not a great start to February, and I can’t see it getting any better yet.

Extreme Mag is Back!

From the start of February 2012, the Tonyo Times e-magazine will return.  This will contain videos and blogs from my own set of series’, and a blog or video from each member of Team Times.  I think the format will be the same, and hope the mag can still drag in the views.  The last issue, which was in May 2012, has been viewed over 7,500 times.  Other magazines I’ve made have reached 50,000 and even 75,000.  So getting on the cover is a nice thing for anyone, and after the 6th issue has been released next month, I’ll be adding new interviews and special covers, including photoshoots.

By the way, the last issue featured Jeremy Ranfection, not really the glamour I’m looking for in the mag, so anyone wanting to do a few nicer poses and do an interview, and I mean anyone, then the stage is yours.

The reason I stopped making the magazine last year was due to having no time.  I had to arrange my wedding and then get married, so the magazine was put on hold for a while.  Plus, building the mag does take quite a bit of time and isn’t the easiest thing to build.

Team Times..
From the beginning of this year, the requirement for a blog or video is just ONE.  It makes it easier for anyone feeling under pressure to do more.  One blog or video a month is really easy, even for the over-worked.  That’s just my view though.  I work full time and over weekends, and look at all the crap I manage to do, so I think one blog is really easy.  The option is still there to do a lot more if a Team Times member wishes to do so.

I will be looking for new members of Team Times in February.  Seeing as members only need to do one thing a month now if they want, it has cut down the volume I’m getting, which means there’s more spaces for new members.  If anyone currently in Team Times knows anyone who’d be good at making videos, writing blogs with good grammar and spelling, and the important thing of being trustworthy, then I’ll look into any offers.

Topic - February 2012..
The topic of the month for Team Times in February.. Future Movie Releases.  I think there are quite a few mega movies coming out, this will give members a chance to talk about it if they wish, and also a good topic if anyone’s stuck on something to talk about in their one blog.  This will be a special section in the March edition of Extreme.

As always, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.  I’ve been Tonyo, thanks for reading.  Let’s get ready for an ace February 2012.

Coppers: Worksop

I think with many more people from Worksop, I saw the Worksop episode of Coppers.  A lot of people in my town don’t like the Police force, even I’ve had a few words to say about their conduct in the past, but some of the officers do a fine job as we saw on the 23rd of January 2012 episode of Coppers, viewed on Channel 4.

It’s nice to see Worksop on TV, I just wish it’d be in a better light.  I saw a lot of people abusing benefits, drug addicts, drunks, and neighbours having problems where the only problem is communication.  I think overall, my town has people with problems just because of that one significant word… COMMUNICATION.  From neighbours at war over nothing, drug addicts and drunks who wouldn’t be in their state if it weren’t for bad education, and thieves who just need to realise they could have had potential in their lives if they’d have just thought about their future properly.  Lack of communication in our society, and not just Worksop, but the whole country and world over, is a key problem.  The only reason things are bad is because of mis-education and people not talking to each other.

The child who beat up his mother, that is something that was solved, and hopefully will remain solved, thanks to PC Steve Porter.  He’s very good.  He did exactly what I would have done, telling the mother to be quiet when she wasn’t helping matters shouting at her son.  In the long term, parents are to blame for not communicating with their children.  You see it in the streets all the time.. child screaming, mother smacking them and saying ‘shut up’, child screams more, mother walks off and ignores them or smacks them again.  It makes me sick!  IIf every parent got on eye level with their child, spoke to them with respect to solve any problems, then maybe the child won’t remember these days and hit their mum when they’re old enough.  Are there any parents reading this who hit their children and don’t talk to them enough?  Think about what I’m saying then, have patience with your kids and the rewards in the future will be amazing.  It’s no good sticking your 8 year old in front of a TV so they can play Grand Theft Auto all day and learn bad things, get them a Nintendo DS instead of buying cigarettes and you can both play Brain Training together and learn something!

PC Steve Porter also said what I did about the couple who didn’t want to have a meeting with their neighbours.  I can understand where they’re coming from, but once again, they didn’t want to communicate in a controlled meeting.  I said myself that if they call the Police, the officers should just leave it.. only go after they’ve had a meeting if things carry on.  It’s no good keep dragging the Police out when they refuse to take a leap of faith and sort out any real issues.

There’s a lot of disrespect in our town.  I think quite a few youngsters need to look in the mirror before they decide to be a sheep around the bad popular kid just to try and stand out.  Seriously, it doesn’t work.  In my own personal experience, I told the kids when I was at school to, erm, go away.  That’s putting it in a polite way.  I was offered drugs twice by people I thought weren’t that bad, and the last friend I had from school, I didn’t hang out with him anymore when he came out with ‘Let’s steal a car and go joyriding’.  I took a lot of time out then from people to understand what was wrong with the world.  I never took drugs, and when it comes to alcohol I’ve only ever been tipsy.  I quote Elizabeth Swann from the original Pirates movie.. ‘because it is a vile drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels’.  That is so true.  I’ve never seen the point in losing your mind over a drug, and because of my life choices, I sit here typing a blog about my town on Coppers, rather than sitting in a pool of my own vomit, wondering how many more benefits I can claim to feed a habit.  I only wish other people could have made the same choices as me, I’m quite sure I could have a lot more local friends if people had just recieved the correct education, had goood parents like I have, and just thought about their future a little bit more.  I do consider myself very lucky for the things I have, but it was also because I knew the evils of the world would ruin my life, and I’d rather have decent clean friends who think the same as I do.  Still, I have my habits, swearing probably being my worst, but I’d rather say the F word than experience what an E does.

The sad thing that Coppers revealed, we’re surrounded by people who’ll never get cleaned up, who don’t want to be clean, and it disgusts me that I have to share the same air as these people.  Danny Wilson, as much as I feel sorry for the bloke, he’s a mess and will never have anything to give back to the community.  You know, I’m sureI went to school with him?  It might be cruel and wrong to say, but some people on this planet need a lethal injection, not just to help other people, but to help the person who’s dying.  What a miserabe life some of these people have, is it right to let them suffer as Danny Wilson is?  That’s a strong controversial debate but I’m not the only one to say it, and I am stating what most people are thinking anyway.

I enjoyed this episode of Coppers, seeing some of the Worksop sights in the background of a few scum bags.  Now we need a documentary filmed in Worksop with a positive light.  I actually challenge any decent folk in Worksop to go out and film the town, tallk about past experiences, the history of Worksop, anything.  In fact, record new things being built like the cinema and the new Tesco.. though I’ll probably be covering the new Tesco myself.  It’d be nice not to be thought of as a member of a failed town, some positive light is definitely needed to put us on the good community map again.

To the officers featured on Coppers, fine job.  Keep up the good work.  I have hopes that Worksop will improve over the next few years, even with the budget cuts in all sectors.  Worksop is a fine little place only ruined with the repuation it’s getting for drug addicts, violence caused by alcohol, and young people who haven’t had the right respect from their families so think it’s fine to go out and shout abuse at innocent people.  I think it can get better before it gets any worse.  I have faith in Worksop.
